Beaulieu Road Station, New Forest

Postby Bob Hayward » Mon Jun 02, 2008 12:54 pm

Sorry no grid ref, but its the carpark next to the Railway Station which is north of Beaulieu (4-5 miles) in the New Forest. I popped in yesterday to twitch the Red-Footed Falcon that has been there for a couple of days. The carpark is on the edge of Shatterford Common and is heathland but there is also forest plantations, for instance yesterday, Wood Warbler, Dartford Warbler, Crossbill, Redstarts, Hobbies, Peregrine, Common & Honey Buzzard just to name a few. It quite often in the winter months gets a Great Grey Shrike or two and I have in the past had Woodlark, its one of those places where you could see hardly anything or something good.

Sorry, I meant to add that the station has it own carpark and the forest carpark is the otherside of the railway bridge
