No sign of the Waxwings today but a Merlin chasing a Skylark and 3 Barn Owls over lunch.

what a great site tick to have as well as merlin & barn owl. I usually catch up with waxwings in Pitsea high street, too near to Basildon. A walk between there & tesco's carpark or another carpark behind the shops to the north can locate the birds in the fruit trees. However they've only appeared once this winter.

I've just finished measuring a house in Hampstead for my work as a surveyor (to produce architectural drawing), so I had to drive through Golders Green. A miserable 2 hour rush drive in the rain only made worse by looking at the london birders website yesterday, to see that there's now 1 waxwing by the garage I've been driving past for the previous week!! Sadly I can't find any lame excuses to go back.

Good birding

Waxwings and Leconfield

Tony,

Waxwings have only really been arriving in the last 10 days, whereas in recent times there have been birds around for Christmas.

Today a Crane was seen at West Carlton, East Yorkshire. This species has been seen at Leconfield before and was seen by two lucky members of the Conservation Group. Can history repeat itself?

All the best,

Tim
