End of Week 3

Postby Lesser Spot Finder » Fri Apr 27, 2007 7:21 am

This week has been mixed with a slow start and the centre of gravity moving from one area to the RAF cantonment. The lack of vegetation around camp diverts birds to barbed wire, scrap metal and cam nets and helps with birding tremendously. The loss of Locusts (which were ambudent last week) has led to the Shrikes departing. Warblers are now very much in evidence. A single Hoopoe was been seen along with one passage Shikra. The Bluethroat was still around at the beginning of the week. It is still extremely hot which limits walks to early morning, late evening. Birds of interest have been:

Shikra (1)
Hoopoe (1)
Bluethroat (1)
Eastern Olivaceous Warbler (still numerous)
Blyth's Reed Warbler (1)
Desert Lesser Whitethroat (1)
Hume's Lesser Whitethroat (2)
Plain Leaf Warbler (several)
Booted Warbler (1)

Happy birding in the UK to you all.

Richard
