I have spent the last couple of days visiting MOB Price following a vehicle move up through the desert. The MOB is very much a small Bastion with a coffee shop, fresh rations and air conditioned tents. There is also a tip outside which attracts hundreds of Black Kites, Common Myna and Starlings. At any one time there is a spiral of 50+ Kites over the camp and Mynas scavanging aoround the tents.
This place has promise and I will be here often and suspect that spring will attract numerous migrants. A quick walk around this morning produced Masked Wagtail, Tree Sparrow and Crested Lark and tens of Kites flying over from the roost which appears to be somewhere near the River Helmand.
All in all, a good trip. I had hoped for Egyptian Vulture but guess I am too early in the year.
