Just to let you know that we saw a Spoonbill on the River Dee yesterday (24 Aug) close to Connah's Quay Reserve which has apparently been in the area for the past week. It was at first sleeping close to 2 Little Egrets and a Heron. Then it gave us a fly past before settling again on a mudflat in the middle of the river and doing a little bit of 'spooning'. Not sure that the gulls appreciated their new large, white, neighbour.
The West Hide is normally the coldest place on earth. Yesterday it was reasonably warm. All in all a good day on The Wirral and the Dee.
