Northern Ireland Peregrine Survey 2014

Postby Jabberwocky » Fri Aug 29, 2014 10:53 am

As of 26 August 2014, the Northern Ireland Raptor Study Group reported there had been 81 Peregrine pairs and 10 singles. At least 65 pairs nested and 57 of these were successful in fledging 153 young. One site failed due to persecution. During 2014 we recorded nesting in the 70th separate quarry since 1977 and 50 of these are still occupied. The weather was very good for nesting Peregrines in May and June. One of the pigeon men who regularly killed peregrines died in June when he choked on a chicken bone; some things come home to roost. Jim Wells, Chair NI RSM.
