DIGISCOPE PHONE ADAPTERS
I eventually bought a Kowa iPhone adapter that fits a Swarovski scope well but is an iPhone 4S adapter, so I have kept my 4S for photography (plus the field guide apps). At £60 for the adapter it is too expensive to upgrade if you change your phone every two years. There are adapters that can be adj...

WWT PREVENT BLACK-HEADED GULLS FROM BREEDING
I do not think I have enough information to vote but the subject is an interesting one. Some of our key charities (eg RSPB) are backed by their membership to purchase key habitat and then the focus shifts from wildlife to the general public. I think this can even be at the expense of its own members...

I see you found the three 'in the hand' photos taken by Phil Deacon. Perhaps some of the SPTA birders may know Phil?

TWO-BARRED CROSSBILL INFLUX
Over the past month there has been a mini Two-barred Crossbill invasion, with birds seen in Shetland, Orkney, Moray/Nairn, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Surrey and South Yorkshire. The first South Yorkshire sightings were seen on 12 Aug at Broomhead Reservoir, SW of Sheffield and only a short d...

DST TURTLE DOVE
The first Turtle Dove of the year was seen at DST on 30 Apr 13.
We have our fingers crossed for a successful year. BBC's Countryfile team are hopefully coming to record the birds, and Defence Ringers, during May 13 for broadcast at a later date.

RING-NECKED DUCK AT LECONFIELD
Great to see a drake Ring-necked Duck on the main lake at the Defence School of Transport's training area this afternoon. The bird has been around East Yorkshire for a week or so, visiting Tophill Low Nature Reserve and Pulfin Bog/High Eske Nature Reserve. It is thought to be the first record for th...

iPHONE DIGISCOPE ADAPTER
Has anyone tried any of the iPhone digiscope adapters?
The only have found is priced at £49, which seems expensive for a small piece of plastic.

AOS EXPEDITION TO FAIR ISLE 28 SEP - 5 OCT 12
The week spent in the Shetland Islands, 6 days on Fair Isle and for most of the expedition an extra day on Shetland Mainland, produced an excellent opportunity to see some of the species typical of the region (ie. Bonxie, Black Guillemot and Rock Dove), subspecies restricted to this region (ie. Shet...

SPEAKING GREEK
I am impressed that you learnt to say, "Excuse me" in Greek! I take it lesson two will be, "Anything about?" or "It's straight in front of you, if you open your eyes"! I think we need regular Greek lesson reports, rather than the lists of bird food! Totally envious of the amazing birds you are getti...
