ESSEX RED-THROATED DIVER

Tony, The Essex bird has been there since at least the 18th of October, when it showed a much clearer red throat patch. Looking at the most recent photos I can see that the red has disappeared in a week as the bird has moulted. When you are used to seeing birds half a mile out to sea and showing the...

Heard it several times, very faintly compared to a Grasshopper Warbler; possibly due to the wind and background noise at the site (trains, planes and automobiles). I did not definitely see the bird in that time, nor did...

AFGHAN GULL

Chris,

Adult Little Gull has a sooty grey underwing. As its name suggests it is small; smaller than a Black-headed Gull, with rounder wing tips. In full breeding plumage the adults have a black hood.

Keep your head down!
